About Tensor

Tensor is Solana's leading NFT marketplace, built specifically for professional and high-volume traders. Launched in July 2022, it surpassed Magic Eden in monthly volume within a year of launch and by 2024 was processing 60 to 70% of all daily NFT transactions on Solana. Its core products include an NFT marketplace aggregator, an automated market maker (AMM) called TensorSwap for NFT liquidity pools, and a full-featured trading interface with real-time floor prices, rarity data, and bulk operations.

Backed by Placeholder VC, Solana Ventures, and co-founders of Solana itself, Tensor ran three seasons of a Treasure Box rewards program from September 2022 through April 2024, accumulating a loyal base of active traders and market makers. The TNSR token launched in April 2024 via Jupiter's claimpad, distributing 125 million tokens to Seasons 1 through 3 participants.

Tensor put the majority of supply firmly in community hands at 55%, the highest community allocation among Solana NFT protocols. Of that 55%, the initial 12.5% was distributed immediately via the Season 1 to 3 airdrop, with the remaining 42.5% reserved for future incentive programs, liquidity provisioning, and ecosystem grants to be distributed over time. Core contributors hold 27% on a three-year linear vest with a one-year cliff, reflecting the genuine engineering effort behind building Solana's dominant NFT infrastructure from scratch in a bear market. Investors and advisors take a combined 9%, one of the leaner investor allocations among major Solana protocol launches. The 9% reserves bucket covers future fundraising and development needs. With no investor allocation above 9% and over half the supply going to the community, Tensor's distribution is among the most user-aligned of the 2024 Solana airdrop cycle.

How It Worked to Get the Tensor Airdrop

Step 1 :

Trade on Tensor (Season 1)

Season 1 ran from September 2022 through early 2023. Simply trading NFTs on Tensor earned Treasure Boxes. Early participation when the platform had low volume earned the highest per-trade rewards.

Step 2 :

Bid, List, and Market-Make (Season 2)

Season 2 shifted to TensorSwap only. Points were earned for placing bids, listing NFTs, and market-making. Bids and listings closer to the collection floor price earned more points. A loyalty boost rewarded users who did not cross-list on other marketplaces.

Step 3 :

Stake a Tensorian NFT

Tensor launched its own Tensorian NFT collection. Staking a Tensorian gave a boost multiplier to all points earned and unlocked a referral link to earn additional points from referred users.

Step 4 :

Refer Users

Each Tensorian holder could generate a unique referral link. Points earned from referred users' activity on Tensor flowed back to the referrer, making high-volume referrers significant earners.

Step 5 :

Open Treasure Boxes at TGE

All Treasure Boxes from Seasons 1, 2, and 3 were opened simultaneously on April 3, 2024. The rarity of each box determined the TNSR amount inside. Boxes were claimable via Jupiter's claimpad from April 8 to October 5, 2024.

Was the Tensor airdrop worth the Effort?

Yes, for those who participated early and genuinely traded NFTs on Solana.

Tensor Season 1 launched in September 2022, deep in the bear market, when almost no one was thinking about an airdrop. Users who traded NFTs on a platform they genuinely preferred received a retroactive reward for activity they were doing anyway. One user claimed 712,348 TNSR worth approximately $1.3 million at opening prices.
The token surged from $1 to $2.23 within the first hour, rewarding those who sold quickly. It has since declined significantly, meaning long-term holders captured much less value.
For Seasons 2 and 3, the points system was more explicit users knew they were farming, but the loyalty mechanics and Tensorian multipliers meant genuine active traders still outperformed casual farmers.
